Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy uses beams of intense energy, like X-rays or protons, to kill cancer cells. More than half of people with cancer undergo radiation therapy during their cancer journey since it can be used for almost any type of cancer.

During this treatment, a linear accelerator machine aims beams of radiation at the cancer cells from different directions to ensure all cancer cells in the area are hit by radiation. Your doctor may recommend this treatment before surgery to shrink the cancer or prevent other cancer cells from growing after surgery.

Ellis is now also offering a high-dose, ultra-precise radiation technique known as Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS). SRS is a highly precise form of radiation therapy initially developed to treat small brain tumors and functional abnormalities of the brain.
