Some prostate cancer symptoms and test results can also be caused by other, noncancerous conditions. To make sure you get the right diagnosis, your doctor will order more tests. Test might include:
- Transrectal ultrasound to look at the prostate
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to create detailed images of the prostate
- Biopsy to remove a small sample of prostate tissue for testing
These tests can help your doctor diagnose prostate cancer and determine what type of prostate cancer you have, slow-growing or a more aggressive cancer. Using this information, you and our doctor can decide what type of treatment is best for you.
